DescriptionFive handed shovel. Five metal and wood handles connect to a central metal spoke, which attaches to a single metal shovel blade. There are blue stickers with silver text on each handle, as well as engraved text on each handle where it attaches to the metal spoke. DimensionsHeight x Width x Depth: 38.75 x 50 x 3.5 in. InscriptionsEngraving on spokes reads: "FEATHERWEIGHT / TEMPERED". "2" at the bottom of each spoke.
MarksSticker on all five handles reads: "AMES / SINCE 1774".
Historical NotesBeth Shalom was the first Jewish congregation in Squirrel Hill, founded in 1917. A five-handled shovel used for the 1968 groundbreaking ceremony at Beth Shalom.
