Historical NotesJean-Pierre Nutini was a rigging gaffer, best boy, and actor who worked on nearly every major motion picture filmed in Pittsburgh from the early 1990s until his death in 2013. Along with his work in the film industry, Nutini also worked on concerts, stage performances, and political rallies, and was active in SAG-AFTRA Local 3, a stagehands union. He was also a charter member of IATSE local 489, known as “Iron City Grips,” The walkie talkie, along with a hard hat and pair of gloves also in the collection, are most indicative of the daily tasks performed by Nutini, which would have involved designing and arranging lights and cables to illuminate a scene and connecting them to their power sources. His customized initials “JP” can be found on all three objects. The walkie talkie is part of larger collection of film and set memorabilia from Jean-Pierre Nutini.
