Historical NotesSouvenir button featuring former Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Barry Bonds. Barry Lamar Bonds (born July 24, 1964) was a Major League Baseball outfielder. He is the son of former major league All-Star Bobby Bonds and Godson of Willie Mays. He debuted in the Major Leagues with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1986 and remained with the team until 1992, when he left for the San Francisco Giants. On August 7, 2007, Bonds hit his 756th home run, breaking the all-time career home run record, formerly held by Hank Aaron.
