Historical NotesBlack Lives Matter bracelet field gathered at a protest for the verdict in the shooting death of Antwon Rose II held at Freedom Corner in 2019. Rose's father, Antwon Rose, Sr., and several local activists spoke to the crowd of 200 gathered at Freedom Corner on March 23, 2019. Seventeen-year-old Rose was shot and killed in East Pittsburgh on June 19, 2018, by police officer Michael Rosfeld. During a traffic stop, Rose, who was in the rear of the car, ran from the vehicle with another passenger and was shot by Rosfeld three times in the back as he ran away.
