DescriptionType-A recording voltmeter. Black metal framework forms rounded rectangular base, back, and top of unit. Mounted on front center of framework is circular black metal drum with colorless glass window on front revealing black-and-white chart for recording volts. Chart has black printed circular grid with printed black text at center and on chart; there is a chrome metal recording arm in the viewer's top right area. Top of framework has leather handle covered in black electrical tape. Above glass window is black metal maker plate. Mounted on reverse of framework is power unit with maker plate on back center. Historical NotesWestinghouse portable voltmeter. Donor Daniel J. McDermott's father-in-law, Calivn H. Furfari, worked for Westinghouse as a Mining Industry Application Engineer from 1948 to 1986. The “Recording Voltmeter” measured voltage on a chart over a period of time. A volt is the size of the force that sends electrons through a current.
