DescriptionColorless glass footed salt. McKee Brothers' Bellflower pattern, also known as Ribbed Leaf pattern or Ribbed Bellflower pattern. Colorless footed salt with a rounded bowl that is slightly concave at the rim, which is scalloped. Design also consists of a single vine undulating horizontally through the middle of the body with 1 bellflower, 1 leaf, and 1 shamrock-shaped leaf above the vine, and one of each below the vine. The background is ribbed and extends to the rim on the exterior; the inside is smooth. 6-paneled neck; the panels are rounded at the base of the bowl and form a collar of sorts. Looking into the bowl, the collar appears as a 6-petal flower with a hexagonal center. The neck is smooth as it flows into the foot. The underside of the concave foot is a ribbed sunburst which extends nearly to the edge of the rim.Dimensions2.75 x 2.75 in. (7 x 7 cm)
Historical NotesPart of a collection of regionally-produced pattern or pressed glass collected by donor George F. Huff's wife, Sue Huff, a member of the Pittsburgh chapter of the National American Glass Club. The collection features two patterns, Bryce Brothers, pattern #125 “Rose in Snow” and the “Bellflower” pattern. The variety in form of these two patterns serves as an important addition to our pressed glass collection.
