DescriptionCream-colored lace and embroidered bodice. Stand-up neckline. Full-length sleeves with two layers; each layer has scalloped lace trim. Bodice has overall ornate embroidery and is trimmed with scalloped lace. Fitted body comes to dull point at front center. Nine hook-and-eye closures down back opening, top proper right hook is missing. Lined with beige fabric.DimensionsHeight x Width (Width at waist): 18 × 11.75 in. (45.7 × 29.8 cm)Historical NotesDress jacket from donor Melissa Marasia's paternal great-grandmother. The donor’s family emigrated from Sant’Onofrio in Calabria, Italy around the turn of the century to the mill town of Breckenridge, Pennsylvania (near New Kensington). The jacket possibly originated as part of a wedding ensemble and was made in Italy and brought to the United States.
