Historical NotesThe first annual Silver Service Award awarded to Frank Armour, Jr., in 1957 by the National Restaurant Association for his thought and action towards the food service industry that contributed to its betterment. Armour was the first non-family member to run the H. J. Heinz Company, a position he obtained in 1959. Armour had risen through the ranks of the company, starting as a tour-guide in 1927, and finally becoming Vice President and general manager of sales and distribution in 1950, before becoming President.
