Historical NotesT-shirt from the landscaping business J. Esposito and Son Landscaping. In 1949, Joseph Esposito, Sr. started Parkway Landscaping. Their business included basic lawn maintenance, such as grass cutting, caring for trees and shrubbery, and constructing stone walls and walkways. The drawing on the shirt was designed by Anthony Esposito (brother of Joseph Esposito, Sr.’s wife, Rose Mary), who was an art teacher in the Pittsburgh public school system. In 1985, Esposito dissolved Parkway Landscaping to work with his son, Joseph Esposito, Jr; together they started J. Esposito and Son Landscaping, which continues (as of 2016) to provide landscaping services in the East End and South Hills. The shirts were donated by Joseph, Sr.’s granddaughter, Jaclyn Esposito, who wore them during her teenage years.
