Top face has raised gold text including business crest at left with monogram "RCCo", text at right "Regina / CANDY CO.", text in bottom left corner "NET WEIGHT ONE POUND", and text in bottom right corner "817 Federal St. / N. S. Pittsburgh".
Historical NotesThis box was from the Regina Candy Company, which was located on Federal Street in Pittsburgh. The Regina Candy Company was founded by Greek immigrant Jack Kyrimes who came to the United States from Athens, Greece in 1900 at age 14. He came to Pittsburgh in 1912 after living in New York and founded the candy company. Kyrimes was also involved in organizing the Greek Orthodox Church on Sandusky Street in the North Side in 1927. The candy company was named after his daughter Regine, he also had a son Peter. He passed away at age 46 in 1932. He was also president of the City League baseball team the “Regina Candies” for a time in the late 1920s while they were coached by Art Rooney.
