Historical NotesJohn Ogden Champaign Cider bottle. John Ogden emigrated from Oldham, England in September of 1841 at the age of 25 and worked in the Rogers Locomotive Works in Patterson, New Jersey. He spent some time in New Orleans after that and then came to Pittsburgh. He was a merchant and then opened a bottling business. He bottled porter and mineral water. In 1865, he left Pittsburgh for New Lisbon, Ohio and opened a woolen mill also called John Ogden & Company, like the bottling business he had in Pittsburgh.
