Lejeune was born February 1875 in Alsace-Lorraine, France. In 1886, he left France with his family and settled in the South Side of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. By age 13, he was employed as a water boy at J&L Steel and continued working there for the next 55 years. He worked in steel production and fabrication and made many of the tools in this collection.
