DescriptionOval gold medal attached to a yellow and black vertical striped ribbon at the top of which is a pin for attaching to clothing. The front of the medal has an eagle with spread wings at the top and text embossed below. In the center is an image of two swimmers.Dimensions1.575 x 3 in. (4 x 7.6 cm)InscriptionsFront of medal reads: "CHAMPIONSHIP / HOMESTEAD" written below image of eagle.
Text on left side: "LIBRARY SWIMMING LEAGUE". Near the bottom is a banner reading: "PITTSBURGH PRESS" with a shield below marked "'25/'26.
Inscription on back: "IND. / CHAMPIONSHHIP / MAR. 12, 1926 / 100 YARDS / RELAY / GIRLS".
At the top of the back "24A" is handwritten in pencil,
MarksOn back at bottom is a mark with "DC" in the center and DIEGES CLUST beneath.
Historical NotesHomestead Championship Swimming Medal. Donated by Cleon Wingard, whose mother, Lenore Kight Wingard, was an Olympic swimmer and an internationally renowned athlete in the 1930s. She participated in the 1932 and 1936 Olympic Games.
