DescriptionDark wood commemorative plaque listing the Pittsburgh High School Basketball Champions between the years of 1954 and 1964. The top of the plaque has a bronze relief of a basketball player holding a ball surrounded by a garland wreath and above a shield. Beneath this is the title of the plaque itself, which is inscribed on bronze. The schools listed below are arranged by year and include Fifth Avenue High School (1960-61; 1961-62; 1963-64). The reverse has a wire for hanging and holes for attaching the bronze plates.Dimensions18 x 10 x 13.5 in. (45.7 x 25.4 x 34.3 cm)

Historical NotesPittsburgh City Schools Basketball Championship plaque. Part of a collection from Fifth Avenue High School. Donor Ray Outlaw played basketball and football for Fifth Avenue High School from 1958 to 1964, he grew up four blocks from the school. He opened a barber shop called Ray Outlaw's Barber Shop at 1819 Fifth Avenue; it was open from 1970 until 1986. The last principal at Fifth Avenue gave Outlaw the donated items when the school closed in 1976.
