DescriptionPink non-lead glass sugar bowl with Cherry Blossom pattern.Dimensions2.5 x 4 in. (6.4 x 10.2 cm)Label TextWith the introduction of automated machinery to the glasshouse floor in the first quarter of the 20th century, glassmakers could produce what one termed as, “quality glass at a quantity price.” Collectors call this machine made glass “depression glass.” Often the tableware is in the popular pink and green colors of the period. While a number of manufacturers in the region embraced this new technology, others continued to produce pressed or handmade wares. Little of this type of glass existed in the collection until curators began acquiring it in the mid 1990s. Jeannette, Pa., Jeannette Glass Co., pink glass, automated pressing process in the Cherry Blossom pattern with original box.
