DescriptionHabit pattern doll. Doll is Caucasian with green eyes and brown synthetic hair. Doll is wearing a Sisters of Charity at Seton Hill-style dress which includes a black blouse, black pleated skirt, black bonnet, white cap, white cardboard collar, black bow around the neck, black habit rosary, black stockings, and black leather shoes. Shoes include a metal heart-shaped buckle and are a children's size 6W. Habit rosary is secured on to the dress by a silver safety pin and silver metal hooks throughout the rosary. Crucifix of rosary is silver and mounted on a cross-shaped silver plate. Bonnet is attached by a velcro strap on the front near the chin. Blouse includes velcro in the front center. Skirt includes two black metal hooks in the back of the waist. Stockings are sheer and thigh-high.Dimensions34 x 17 in. (86.4 x 43.2 cm)
MarksText on bottom of each shoe: "Smart / Step".

Back of rosary includes the following engraved text: "Roma" in the center and "ITALY" at the bottom.
Historical NotesPart of a collection that documents the contributions of Catholic orders to healthcare in Western Pennsylvania. The collection was originally on display at Slippery Rock University as an exhibition titled, "Sisters in Healthcare: Sixteen Communities of Religious Sisters in Western PA, 1847-1969." With this collection, the History Center has the largest collection of Pre-Vatican II habits in the United States. Many of the long-standing healthcare facilities in the region were started by the Sisters including Mercy Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, and many others.
