DescriptionDrawing or sketch on rectangular piece of white tissue paper. Tissue paper is covered in pencil sketch of a neighborhood and bridge. In the center of the image, there is a house with three dormers, two chimneys, two bay windows, and a small shed off to the side. Up the hill to the right of the house are several smaller houses. In the foreground of the picture, there is a bridge leading up to the house on the right. On the left there is a pathway with railings on either side. Historical NotesArtwork by the Pittsburgh artist Samuel Rosenberg. Artist and teacher Samuel Rosenberg (1896-1972) had a prolific career in Pittsburgh, leading him to be called the “Dean of Pittsburgh painters.” He is perhaps best-known for his scenes of the Hill District in the 1920s and 1930s. Rosenberg was a beloved presence in the Pittsburgh art world and influenced numerous artists through his teaching careers at the Irene Kaufmann Settlement, Young Men & Women’s Hebrew Association, and Carnegie Tech.
