Historical NotesWood rosary beads used by Father Joseph McCaffrey to console FBI agents and family members of victims at the Flight 93 crash site in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, September 2001.Label TextAs one of the official chaplains of the FBI Pittsburgh Division, Father Joseph McCaffrey rushed to Shanksville, Pennsylvania, on the afternoon of September 11, 2001 in order to provide spiritual and emotional support to FBI agents and personnel working at the Flight 93 crash site. He was also asked to counsel the families of the victims as they began to arrive in Shanksville. McCaffrey used these rosary beads to console family members as he escorted them to the crash site.
