Historical NotesThree-tiered molded plastic playhouse was designed and developed by local child development experts at the Valley Child Care Center (in Oakmont) in partnership with local universities around 1970. Valley was recognized as a progressive, state-of-the-art, child care facility and youth center, it was one of the first child development centers to be licensed in the country. The lowest level was for infants to crawl around in, the middle level is an octagonal shaped crib for infants and toddlers with bright, primary colored roof panels that could also hold mobiles. The playhouse was used at Valley, but it was determined to be to cost prohibitive for mass production.
