Historical Notes"White out" towel from 2009 Stanley Cup Final at Mellon Arena. Every person in attendance at the game received this type of towel to use during the game, causing the entire audience to appear completely white in order to distract the opposing team. This towel is from game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final. The Penguins won 4-2 and went on to win the series 4-3 to win the Stanley Cup; they became the second team since 1971 to win the Cup after losing the first two games of the series. “White out” T-shirts and towel from 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs and Stanley Cup Final at Mellon Arena. Every person in attendance at the game received this type of t-shirt to wear during the game, causing the entire audience to appear completely white in order to distract the opposing team. One t-shirt is from game 2 of the conference finals against the Carolina Hurricanes on May 21, 2009. The Penguins won 7-4 and went on to win the series 4-0 to clinch the Eastern Conference title. The other t-shirt and towel are from game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final. The Penguins won 4-2 and went on to win the series 4-3 to win the Stanley Cup.
