Historical NotesThrift Drug, once a sponsor of the Pittsburgh Marathon, was a Pittsburgh-based pharmaceutical company owned by J.C. Penney. In 1996, J.C. Penney bought Eckerd Corporation and merged Thrift Drug into Eckerd, retiring Thrift Drug entirely by 1997.
