Historical NotesHanna Chapeaux shops were located in Squirrel Hill, East Liberty, and Oakland. The shops were opened by Hanna Seligmann and her husband Martin who had fled to the United States from Nazi Germany in 1939. Prior to arriving in the U.S., the couple had a shop located in Mainz, Germany. Part of a collection of hatboxes and retail store boxes. Donor Nancy Page has been collecting retail boxes for many years. Most of the retail boxes are from local Pittsburgh stores.
