MarksEngraved maker's information in two places: on lower edge of whistle "PHILA LONERGAN PENNA" and on two sides of stem "LONERGAN".
Historical NotesWhistle used to signal when the cage was being raised or lowered in the Renton Mine. The mine was owned by Consol. The whistle belonged to the donor Dolores Richardson's husband, Lloyd Richardson who worked at the mine. He was the last union miner to work at the site until it closed in 1983; when it reopened, the mine was no longer a union operation.
