Historical NotesTextile wall hanging brought back from the donor's, Giovanna Ranii's, visit to Sicily. The donor's parents Giuseppe Ranii and Lucia Scarcella were both born in Santa Teresa Riva, Sicily. They were married on April 12, 1920. Lucia came to the United States in 1921 to meet her husband who had come earlier in the year. She brought some of these pieces with her. Lucia came through Ellis Island and took a train to Pittsburgh. The family settled in Blawnox. They had four children, the donor being the eldest followed by Carmelo, Vincenzo and Giorgio.
