Historical NotesEyeglasses from Transitions Optical, a subsidiary of Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company.Label TextTransitions lenses remain clear at night or in dim lighting, but automatically darken in bright light. The lenses block 100% of harmful UVA and UVB rays, helping to protect the eyes. In 1990, Transitions Optical, then majority owned by PPG Industries, became the first to successfully manufacture and commercialize a plastic photochromic lens.
