Historical NotesThe shape of the tapered cartridge looks like the shape of the cartridge for a Burnside breech-loading carbine (rifle), with the bullet up front and a very distinctly narrowing powder cartridge behind it. Matches to this shape are rare, because of the very distinctive shape. However, it is difficult to find any Burnside cartridges that are paper, which could possibly be an interior liner.
