Historical Notes"Plumed Knight" had been a nickname for James G. Blaine, given to him during his campaign for president in 1876 after a speech by Roger Ingersoll. Mr. Krasik believes that Delamater may have used this term to harken back to Blaine and draw comparisons to himself.
