Historical NotesJoseph Curtis Buffum first came to Pittsburgh around 1845, and was involved in various businesses with his brother, including phreno-magentics and the bottling business. He left for a short time to join the California Gold Rush. He returned to Pittsburgh to continue his bottling business. They bottled soda, beer, and vinegars and he was a leading Pittsburgh citizen.
