Historical NotesButton given to those who contributed in donating to the polio vaccine cause. The "Winged Liberty Head" dime was produced from 1916-1945. Also known as the "Mercury" dime, the coin depicts Lady Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, a classic symbol of liberty and freedom, with its wings intended to symbolize freedom of thought.
