DescriptionFireman's hook ladder, also known as a pompier ladder. Long wood pole with metal running entire length front and back and extending at one end into a gooseneck hook. Hook has serrated inner edge. Eight wood rungs evenly spaced along length of pole. Two curved metal handles mounted on front, each dotted with holes.Dimensions124.25 x 12 x 31 in. (315.6 x 30.5 x 78.7 cm)Historical NotesFireman’s ladder, also called a hook or pompier ladder. These types of ladders were used in the late 1800s into the early 1900s. The ladder was used to scale a building by breaking out a window and hooking the ladder to the window sill above.
