Bethel AME Church, located on Wylie Avenue in Pittsburgh’s Hill District, was founded in 1808 and is the oldest African American church in Western Pennsylvania. This church was a station for the Underground Railroad and its members ranked as some of the more influential people in the history of Pittsburgh’s African American community.
