Historical NotesLeather case used to store and carry stainless steel ice cream freezer. Invented and patented by John A. Snigo and James Signaigo, who owned the Snigo Ice Cream Company in Pittsburgh at the turn of the century.Label TextThe Snigo packing can patented January 7, 1902, by John A. Snigo has an inner steel-plated tin can for holding ice cream, with the larger can holding briny ice. A unique lid lock and galvanized iron rim hold the cream can safe and secure from spills during transport and from brine leaking into the product. Snigo’s ice cream shop was located along Fifth Avenue, beside Snigo’s Tobacco & Cigars.
