Historical NotesAdvertising piece for Old Shay Beer & Ale, made by Fort Pitt Brewing Company. The object was used in Sell's Tavern, McKees Rocks, PA; the tavern was owned by William Sell. Donor James E. Treher believed the tavern was more of a family restaurant/bar in its heyday; he admits to writing the bar's name and an approximate manufacturing year for the piece on the backside of the object. He obtained the object through his wife, Barbara, whose maiden name is Sell.
