Historical NotesTechnical model of the Gate Vessel YNg-I, which was built by Dravo for the United States Navy in 1941. This particular model was one of 27 built by the company and it launched on March 31, 1941. The Gate Vessels were designed during pre-Pearl Harbor days to tend submarine nets guarding the principal harbors of the U.S. Donor Charles R. Volk was the lawyer for the company who represented them during many of their labor disputes, this model was given to him as a gift by one of the executives of Dravo.
