Historical NotesTwo items from Gnagey's Dairy: a bottle and a set of baby bottles in a box. Gnagey's Dairy was located in Meyersdale, PA, and the donor's mother Rosanna Walker (Murphy) worked at the dairy scooping ice cream in their store. She believes her mother received this collection of baby bottles after the birth of her daughter Phyllis Walker in 1947. The Gnagey family were descendants of Swiss immigrant Christian Gnaegi who came to the colonies in the 1750s and settled in Somerset County. His original land claim became Meyersdale, PA, where the family dairy was also located. The dairy was founded and operated by the Edgar and William Gnagey families, who also owned a farm in the same neighborhood. Local farmers delivered and sold their milk to Gnagey's Dairy for processing.
