Historical NotesHockey stick used by Jaromir Jagr, former Right Winger for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Jaromir Jagr (born February 15, 1972 in Kladno, Central Bohemia, Czechoslovakia, now the Czech Republic) was the first Czechoslovak player to be drafted by the NHL without first having to defect to the West. He was taken by the Pittsburgh Penguins with the fifth overall pick in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft. He was a supporting player with the powerhouse Penguins that won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 1991 and 1992; in fact, Jagr was the youngest player in NHL history, at 19, to score a goal in the Stanley Cup finals. As of 2007, Jagr was playing for Avangard Omsk in the Kontinental Hockey League. The Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) is an international professional ice hockey league in Eurasia founded in 2008. The league was formed in 2008 from a predecessor organization, the Russian Superleague (RSL), whose roots date back to 1946.
