DescriptionFavrile-glass mosaic storefront sign. In shades of blue, yellow, green, and red. Brass frame; cement filled. Green diamond border divides sign into three sections. Top section-circular sunburst. Middle has company name. Bottom has letter in circle bordered in flower and leaf pattern. Four bolt fasteners in each corner of middle section; each fastener has a rosette on front; two of the rosettes are detached.DimensionsHeight x Width x Depth (a-b): 27.25 x 14.5 x 1.125 in. Historical NotesStorefront sign from W.W. Wattles & Sons. Donated by Earnest Bovie the president of W.W. Wattles & Sons. The company was founded in 1859 at 30-32 Fifth Ave. and made a speciality of diamonds and watches. In 1892, became W.W. Wattles & Sons. The sons were named J. Hanley and Charles W. In 1896, the business moved to 214-216 Fifth Ave. and in 1906 to 517 Wood Street.
