Sheckler, a small animal veterinarian in practice in Pittsburgh from the 1920s until his death in 1978. He made house calls along Fifth Avenue, had clients from all walks of life, served as vet for the Pittsburgh Zoo, was affiliated with the Western Pennsylvania Kennel Association, Animal Friends, and the Animal Rescue League. These were carried in his doctor's bag (97.97.4).
