Historical NotesThis spinning wheel belonged to Agnes and Thomas Wilson, 1st settlers in Penn Township. Their log cabin was built in 1776 on Frankstown Rd. The owners fled to Fort Pitt with the spinning wheel just before an American Indian attack. Inherited by their daughter, Elizabeth, who married John Shaw, founder of Glenshaw. Charles McClintock, the donor, was a direct descendent of Thomas Wilson and a former president of the Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania.
