Historical NotesThis sample was produced on the first run of the 14,000 ton press on August 1, 1953. While documentation does not specify, this extrusion was probably run at ALCOA's Lafayette, Indiana Works. The 14,000 ton press was the largest extrusion press of the day. The sample is both thick and wide, a difficult configuration to extrude. Much of the output of this press was for the aircraft and defense industries.
