DescriptionSquare, acrylic assemblage of seven Pittsburgh Police badges, two hat badges, six insignia pins, and a nametag on a black background. Arranged across the top row are five badges, the first being silver followed by four gold badges. Under the four gold badges are their corresponding insignia that depict a vertical gold bar, a gold leaf, a silver leaf and a silver eagle. Arranged across the bottom row are two gold shield badges. Next to those are two gold hat badges that incorporate the seal of the city of Pittsburgh. Under the two shield badges are their corresponding insignia that depict a gold eagle and a gold star. Below the hat badges is a gold name plate with name on front.Dimensions1.312 x 10 x 11.875 in. (3.3 x 25.4 x 30.2 cm)

Leftmost badge: "PITTSBURGH POLICE" around the outside with the number "202" in the center of the badge.

Second badge from left: Stamped lettering with blue enamel inlay on the shield is "BUREAU OF POLICE PITTSBURGH". In the center it reads "LIEUTENANT". Below the shield is stamped "PA".

Third badge from left: Stamped lettering with blue enamel inlay on the shield is "BUREAU OF POLICE PITTSBURGH" In the center it reads: "INSPECTOR". Below the shield is stamped "PA".

Fourth badge from left: Stamped lettering with blue enamel inlay on the shield is "BUREAU OF POLICE PITTSBURGH" In the center it reads: "CHIEF/ INSPECTOR". Below the shield is stamped "PA".

Fifth badge from left: Stamped lettering with blue enamel inlay on the shield is "DEPARTMENT OF POLICE PITTSBURGH". Around the center reads "ASST / SUPERINTENDENT". Below the shield is stamped "PA".

BOTTOM ROW:
Leftmost badge: Stamped lettering with blue enamel inlay inside of four banners reads: "ASSISTANT CHIEF / PUBLIC SAFETY / POLICE / PA". In the center is a circular emblem with the seal of the city of Pittsburgh in the center and reads: "CITY OF PITTSBURGH" around the edge.

Second badge from left: Stamped lettering with blue enamel inlay inside of four banners reads: "CHIEF / PUBLIC SAFETY / POLICE / PA". In the center is a circular emblem with the seal of the city of Pittsburgh in the center and reads: "CITY OF PITTSBURGH" around the edge.

Rectangular gold nametag in bottom right corner of assemblage with black inlay is stamped "M. DEROY".

Historical NotesMayer DeRoy served on the Pittsburgh Police force from 1960-1992 and the Homestead Police force from 1992-1995. He served as Pittsburgh Police Chief from May 17, 1990 to June 15, 1992. From 1992-1995 he was the Chief of the Homestead Police. Part of the Pittsburgh Police Historical Association collection.
