DescriptionRectangular multi-media collage. The base is a postcard which depicts the "Triumph of Bacchus," a tapestry in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art". A piece of paper (probably a magazine clipping) is adhered in the center to proper left section of the object and is made up of reds, yellows, and black. Historical NotesArtwork by the Pittsburgh artist Samuel Rosenberg. Artist and teacher Samuel Rosenberg (1896-1972) had a prolific career in Pittsburgh, leading him to be called the “Dean of Pittsburgh painters.” He is perhaps best-known for his scenes of the Hill District in the 1920s and 1930s. Rosenberg was a beloved presence in the Pittsburgh art world and influenced numerous artists through his teaching careers at the Irene Kaufmann Settlement, Young Men & Women’s Hebrew Association, and Carnegie Tech.
