Historical NotesDonor Joseph S. Bielecki's parents and grandparents were friends with Sam Levin and his wife, and their son, Leonard Levin and his wife, Sally. Sam Levin came from Poland in the late 1800s to early 1900s and began his career in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, with a pushcart collecting rags and bonds and used items for resale. He returned to Poland and brought his bride back to Mount Pleasant where they opened a furniture store. The furniture store became very successful and eventually became the Levin Furniture chain.
