Historical NotesAccording to family history, this brooch was made from an ornament originally attached to a chalice. The ornament was removed and given to William Wilkins, ambassador to Russia during Andrew Jackson's administration, by Russian officials. The brooch descended through the family to the donor Terry Wells.
