Historical NotesJudge Frank Lucchino earned a Bachelor's degree in engineering in 1961, and a law degree in 1964, from the University of Pittsburgh. He is an alumnus of Harvard Business School's Executive Education program on corporate governance. At the time of donation (2011), Judge Lucchino was serving as a senior judge in the Orphans' Court Division of the Court of Common Pleas in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Prior to being elected to the Court, he was a senior partner at the law firm of Grogan, Graffam, McGinley and Lucchino in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He also served five four-year terms as Allegheny County Controller, an elected position. In 1993, Judge Lucchino was named to the United States National Commission on Libraries and Information Science (NCLIS) by President Clinton and was confirmed by the Senate. He served on the Commission until July 1999. Albert Fondy was a Pittsburgh Public School teacher who served over thirty-seven years in the leadership of various local and state teachers unions. Fondy was elected to serve fifteen consecutive terms as president of the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers, twelve terms as president of the Pennsylvania Federation of Teachers and was elected vice president of the American Federation of Teachers in 1980.
