Jacob Ash Company, Inc.

The Jacob Ash Co. Inc. was a glove wholesaler based out of the Fifth Avenue district of Uptown Pittsburgh. The brothers Jacob, Hyman and Abraham Ash founded Ash Bros., a confectionery and general merchandising business, as early as 1931. The company operated at 1411 Fifth Avenue from 1931 to 193 Inc.2, at 1202 Fifth Avenue from 1934 to 1938 and at 1336 Fifth Avenue from 1939 to 1940.

The brothers eventually started independent businesses. Jacob Ash opened a confectionery and general merchandising company around 1940, based out of 1202 Fifth Avenue. Following his death in 1968, his family incorporated the business as Jacob Ash Co. Inc., moved to 1018 Fifth Avenue and focused exclusively on gloves, selling to various retailers and large commercial customers. The business was sold in the 2000s and exists as of September 2019 as Jacob Ash Holdings Inc. based out of McKees Rocks, Pa.
