Herman Spiegel1888 - 1977

Harry Spiegel immigrated to the Hazelwood neighborhood of Pittsburgh around 1918 from the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He operated a general store at 5282 Second Avenue and began purchasing real estate in the neighborhood in the 1920’s. He was a member of Ahavos Zedeck Congregation in Hazelwood and was elected president in 1926. He later moved to Squirrel Hill, where he became a member of Beth Shalom Congregation and Kether Torah Congregation. The Sadie and Herman Spiegel Religious School at Beth El Congregation in the South Hills was named for him and his wife.
