Anna Reingold1899 - 1996

Anna Goldie Spiegle (1899-1996) immigrated to the United States from Ukraine in March 1914 with her parents and two siblings. She sewed buttons onto caps in a sweatshop in the Fifth Avenue district of Uptown while taking evening classes at the Irene Kaufmann Settlement House. She later worked as a stock girl and a saleswoman for Rosenbaum’s Department Store in downtown Pittsburgh. She met her future husband, Samuel Reingold, at a social event hosted by the Young People’s Zionist League. Anna and Samuel Reingold had three children: Herbert, Vernon and Benita (also known as “Bunny”). Their grandson Burton Morris became an internationally known artist.
