Pier front gate has red text on front "HEINZ".

Large rear pier building has text on top "57" and front "HEINZ".

Side of box has black printed text " "The Sea Shore Home of the 57 Varieties" / Mr. H. J. Heinz purchase a pier in Atlantic City, at the foot of Massachusetts Avenue in 1898 and / named it the "Heinz Pier". / It was one of three in Atlantic City and the only one that stayed open throughout the winter (and always closed on Sundays). / It had a classical arch at the entrance to the pier. / Halfway down the pier a glass-covered sun parlor was built housing rocking chairs, writing tables, / 25 desks with free writing paper, post cards, magazines, daily newspapers, and a fabulous display / of Heinz products. It also on one end, had a demonstration kitchen that offered free hot and cold / food samples and, of course, the famous Heinz pickle pin. / The pier extended 900 feet into the ocean and had at the outer end a glass pavilion with an / enormous "Heinz 57" sign in green electric lights. / The pavilion held an assembly hall, seating 125 persons that was used for lectures. / The main area was given to a remarkable exhibition of 144 paintings, bronzes and curios from all / corners of the world. / In season as many as 15,000 people came to the pier daily. / In September 1944 a forceful hurricane swept down on Atlantic City. With winds over 200 miles / per hour the Heinz pier, the two buildings and the gigantic 57 sign were plunged into the Atlantic / Ocean and lost forever. The great Heinz pier was never rebuilt."

The buildings on the pier held many famous works / of art and an area for relaxation. It was destroyed by a hurricane in September 1944 ".

All sides of the box except for one have repeated "Heinz" logo.

Historical NotesA 2003 H.J. Heinz Company employee Christmas gift which was a snow globe of the Heinz Pier. The donor received this as a gift while working for the H.J. Heinz Company.
