Lillian Betty Mountain was primarily Hungarian and the doll was supposed to be based on an Eastern European country, possibly Croatia. The J. Halpern & Company was a local toy company in Pittsburgh founded by Julius Halpern, a prominent banker and leader in the Jewish community of Pittsburgh.
